About ReConnectPA
- Who is behind ReConnectPA.org?
- The Keystone Transportation Funding Coalition, a group of organizations interested in a comprehensive solution to Pennsylvania’s transportation funding dilemma. Members include highway builders, public transit agencies, bike and pedestrian trail advocates, the trucking industry, business groups, freight and passenger rail, air and sea ports, labor unions, farming organizations, health care providers and groups representing seniors and motorists.
- Do I have to join anything or provide personal information in order to use this site?
- No. You can participate anonymously or under a screen name if you prefer, although we invite you to provide us with your e-mail address in order to receive periodic updates. We will not share any personal information with anyone, and you may unsubscribe at any time.
- How do I post a transportation suggestion in my community?
- On the map that appears on the home page, simply click on the region where you live. Once you’re in that region, you can zoom closer and drag the map to the location at which you wish to make a suggestion. Or, click the “Report” tab at the top left, and you’ll be prompted to type in a location. A marker will appear, and you’ll be prompted to drag the marker to the specific location, then enter the information you wish to post. You can post a picture if you wish, or even a video.
- What if someone has already identified the suggestion I wanted to make?
- You can add your own comments and vote for that suggestion. You can even post it to your Facebook page and alert your friends.
- What do you intend to do with this information?
- ReConnectPA.org will share it with state and local transportation officials and elected representatives to let them know that there is public support for hundreds of transportation projects across Pennsylvania.
- How does this fit in with the state and local transportation planning processes?
- It has no formal role, but may help transportation planners and elected representatives understand what the public sees as priorities.
- What types of projects should I suggest?
- Any project, small to large, that you believe would either improve safety, relieve congestion, or both. However, we recommend that you contact PennDOT to report potholes on state roads or your local government for those on local roads. The PennDOT pothole hotline is 1-800-FIX-ROAD (1-800-349-7623).
- What if I’m not sure about the specific solution to a problem?
- Then you may just identify the problem, and leave it to those with transportation design expertise to develop a solution.
- What if my marker doesn’t appear on the map?
- Non-transportation suggestions are filtered out, as are issues regarding potholes, snow removal, driving habits and other items that cannot be addressed with a physical improvement to the transportation system. If you have posted a suggestion that meets the criteria but does not appear on the map, please drop us an e-mail via the contact form.
- Are you only interested in roads and bridges?
- Absolutely not. ReConnectPA.org views the transportation system as anything involved in moving people and products from one place to another. In addition to road and bridge projects, we welcome suggestions about public transportation, passenger and freight rail, air and sea ports and bike and pedestrian trails.
