The Transportation Infrastructure system in Pennsylvania consists of our roads, bridges, transit systems, railways, ports, bicycle and pedestrian paths and airports. It is a fully integrated system that moves millions of people per day. It connects our communities and is a foundation of our economy. Yet, most people know very little about how it is funded, maintained and improved.
We all want our transportation systems to be safe and dependable, because we know that our roads carry more than just cars. They transport children to school, parents to work and goods to markets.
We are facing a growing transportation system crisis in Pennsylvania. We lack a vision for its future, adequate funding to expand the current system and money to modernize what we already have in place. As our systems age they become less dependable and less safe. They affect how we live our daily lives and the security and safety of our families.
At ReConnectPA.org we believe that we need to have a statewide conversation about the future of our transportation system in Pennsylvania from the ground up. We want to know what is happening in your community. Do you commute through dangerous intersections? Would better signage improve safety? This website is here to help you and your neighbors tell your stories about the safety and convenience issues that affect your lives.
Please join in our conversation and together we can craft a better, safer and more integrated 21st century transportation system in Pennsylvania.
